I. The Liturgy Committee:
The Liturgy Committee works to plan and promote all liturgies at St.
Therese: Sunday and weekday Masses; all other religious events celebrated
in the Parish. |
The Liturgy Committee:
| 1. Takes into account the liturgical seasons and their effect on the liturgies. |
| 2. Helps develop the liturgical life of the parish. |
| 3. Identifies the liturgical needs of the parish. |
II. Rosary Society:
The Rosary Society is made up of a group of dedicated men
and women who meet on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 p.m. to recite the Rosary
in Church. |
They have also organized a group of people who, because they cannot make
a commitment to come to Church on Wednesday evening, have made another
kind of commitment. They have formed what is call the Perpetual Rosary
Society. These people have committed themselves in pairs to recite the
Rosary at least once a day for the period of one week on an alternating
schedule. |
III. The Parish Council:
Purpose:
The Parish Council advises the Pastoral Staff, Sets Goals for the parish
and provides the catalyst necessary to live out the Parish Mission Statement. |
Primary Tasks:
To identify and encourage the use of the gifts and talents of all parishioners
for the good of the parish and the local community. |
To establish goals and objectives for the parish and prioritize their
implementation. |
IV. Finance Council:
The Finance Council is a separate entity from the parish council. It
is set up to advise the Parish Council and the Pastor in all financial
matters. It reviews the requests from all committees, the Parish Council
and the Pastor for purchases of other than ordinary operating expenses
and advises on the feasibility of allocating the resources as requested. |
V. Religious Education Committee:
The Religious Education Committee is an organization
that meets to discuss, help organize and implement all education programs
for the parish from
pre-school through adult. This committee acknowledges that parents are
the primary educators of their children. The committee’s role is
to assist the Director of Religious Education in making sure parents are
informed about and involved in their children’s religious educations.
More than 700 children are currently under instruction. |
VI. Legion of Mary:
The Legion of Mary is an organization founded in Dublin, Ireland on September
7, 1921. Its purpose was to bring the Catholic religion to the street people
of Dublin. Over the years it has evolved into an organization which visits
the sick and shut-ins of a parish to bring the love of Jesus to them. |
VII. The Music Department:
The Music Department provides appropriate
music for the various special celebrations in the Church, such as First
Communion, Confirmation, and Christmas and Easter celebrations as well
as Saturday and Sunday Masses. The Director of Music is consulted for
weddings to determine the appropriate music and for special music at
funerals. The Director of Music also supervises the Children’s
Choir who sing regularly at the 9:30 a.m. Mass on Sundays and the Adult
Choir who sing at the 11:00 a.m. Mass on Sunday.

VIII. St. Therese Carnival Committee:
Once a year, usually in June, the Parish conducts a Carnival with rides,
games and food. This perhaps is the largest undertaking involving the whole
parish and it requires many volunteers. Each is asked to work at least
one night or up to all four nights in game booths, in the food booth, helping
the raffle or parking cars. During the carnival the Annual Raffle takes
place. |
IX. St. Therese Ladies Guild:
The Ladies Guild is one of the oldest organizations
in St. Therese Church thanks to many sincere women who work diligently
to keep the ladies of
St. Therese a strong community. The objective of this organization is
to foster the devotion to St. Therese, “The Little Flower” and
to help materially and financially with the support of the Church. In
December the Guild hosts an annual Christmas Fair to Raise funds thus
enabling them
to make considerable donations to needy organizations in the area, to
the Missions and to our Church. |
X. St. Therese Men's Club:
The Men’s Club, reactivated in 1992, is both
a social and a service organization of the Parish. As a social group,
the Men's Club sponsors trips, dinners,
dances, and picnics. They also sponsor the Christmas Party and provide two graduating high school
seniors with a college scholarship. As a service
organization,
they regularly repair, refurbish and reconstruct any part of the Church
or Hall which needs improvement. From new kneelers to church chandelier
lights, from basement reconstruction to the choir loft new floor and
railings, they are always ready to work. The new Bocce Court symbolizes
the combined social and service role of the Men’s Club. |
Membership:
Any man over 18 who considers himself or his family part
of St. Therese Parish. |
Meetings:
Every fourth Thursday of the month at
7:00 p.m. in the Church Hall. |
XI. Nursery School and Pre-Kindergarten:
Since 2000, the Parish has run a Nursery School and a Pre-Kindergarten
program. Between 75 and 90 children ages 3-4 are prepared to enter the
school system. |
